A well known old lady stranger – A well known old lady stranger, she shuffles past,..

A well known old lady stranger, she shuffles past, old woman’s past becomes out of view woman.
Looked at, scented, hunted by fat lazy eyes, tasted, wrapped in gossiping saliva.
That woman has been around here for years, she forgot to tell us.
Always, her good and kind neighbours make one, two, three, as many as they imagine, up, stories fitting into every thick head and into the time it takes.
Cold imagination and a lack of education, solid enough foundations for stranger biographies.
That woman’s house was on fire, she burned for hours, until she was blackened crisp and became part of an armchair.
It was quiet then, silent alarms heard, and door-to-door enquiries drew a blank,
the end.
